"As a young athlete whose dad was often the volunteer coach, I grew up listening to a lot of stories about his high school lacrosse team in Maplewood, NJ. Whether he used them to encourage something good, eliminate bad behavior, or simply entertain, they often began with an in-game accolade or anecdote to get my attention but quickly transitioned to a story about the character of the men on the field. And how his band of brothers – many of whom went on to become NCAA DI players, All-Americans and National Champions - grew into the kind of players, and people, capable of achieving great things. String together the stories many of these men tell and it becomes evident that their coach Bob Curcio was instrumental in helping them not only master the game of lacrosse, but go on to win at the game of life – as service men and war heroes, successful entrepreneurs and corporate executives, dedicated public servants, and of course, fathers of lacrosse players who volunteer to coach and play it forward....
...Fast forward thirty-seven years to 2016. I am entering my own high school senior season with one of the most experienced senior classes in a long time - a group that started together 12 years prior on the local rec fields learning to play the game the right way from some very knowledgeable and dedicated dads. Many of us had a few years of varsity experience already so we knew we had the potential to do something special. We weren't deterred by the fact the program had gone more than a decade without a state title or that Northwest NJ was a hotbed of lacrosse and we played one of the hardest schedules in the state. Over the course of an unforgettable three months, our team won more games than any team in school history and captured the NJ Group-3 State Championship. Most importantly, we all walked away from the experience as greater versions of ourselves. We could all agree that all that time building and field-testing our resilence, accountability, humility and respect was worth every minute.
The critical red thread between these two stories isn't a team trophy that sits in a case, but the traits embodied by the players on the field.  At Greater Every Day Lacrosse we are on a mission to build strong players with equally strong character, so that the fastest growing sport in the country can maximize its positive impact on the world.Â

Our back story began in the Northeast in the late 1970's, saw all new characters introduced in 2016, included chapters at college campuses here and abroad, as well as a number of years in corporate America. There are a lot of amazing people that have helped shape the vision for Greater Every Day. Coaches and teammates, family and friends, we thank you for the incredible shared experiences and individual life lessons. All of it has inspired a new chapter devoted to developing the next generation of strong players with equally strong character.
